Watch the forest come alive, with the sonata of myriad birds, the dancing winged fairies that are butterflies, and rumbling elephants....and shhh....if luck is on your side, you might have a fleeting glimpse of a tiger!

Pakke-a snapshot

Where it is located: East Kameng District, Arunachal Pradesh
Area: 861.95 sq. km.
Altitudinal range: 150-1,500 m asl
Tourism zones: Tippi and Bhalukpong in the west, Seijosa in the south-east and Pakke Kesang in the northeast.

Pakke's wild denizens
Pakke is home to 40 species of mammals,  more than 300 species of birds, 380 species of butterflies, more than 300 species of moths, 30 species of amphibians and 36 species of reptiles. And possibly more many more species still be be recorded!


Titli Trust supports conservation efforts at Pakke

Titli Trust has been involved in a long term lepidoptera research and monitoring program at Pakke since 2009. During this research, 327 species of butteflies and more than 200 species of moths were recorded here. Rare species includes the Abor Freak (re-discovered at Pakke after a hundred years!),Wizard, Pointed Pierrot, Painted Courtesan, Red Caliph, Silver-streaked Acacia Blue, Chinese Bushbrown, Dark Catseye, Lesser Mime, Refulgent Flash...to name only a few species.

Using the information from the surveys Titli Trust published a book titled "Butterflies and Moths of Pakke Tiger Reserve"  in 2013 to assist lepidoptera tourism at Pakke. A seccond edition of this book"Butterflies and Moths of Pakke Tiger Reserve. Second Edition " has just been released. Proceeds from these books will go to the Pakke Tiger Conservation Foundation.
